eco gestures

What eco gestures should I make on a daily basis?

Taking care of the planet can be done in many ways and there are many things you can do to reduce your waste and your impact.

Taking care of our environment is important, but it can sometimes be difficult to know what to do about it. There are many simple things we can do in our daily lives to reduce our ecological impact.

Simple everyday actions

First of all, here are the eco-actions to protect the planet, suitable for everyone, for which you don't need a certain budget or to live close to all amenities.

- Sort your waste
- Put a stop ad on your letterbox
- Drink tap water
- Do not flush anything down the toilet
- Do not waste food
- Buy second-hand
- Use ecological search engines
- Collect rainwater to water plants
- Have a compost
- Recycle, reuse, reduce
- Limit car journeys
- Use zero-waste products (reusable cotton pads, reusable paper towels, dishwashing brushes, water bottles, reusable sponges, solid products, etc.)

Eco-actions at home

There are many ecological gestures we can adopt at home to reduce our environmental impact.

  • Reduce energy consumption: by using electronic devices more efficiently, by using LED light bulbs, by adjusting the thermostat according to the season, by using solar panels or renewable energy to produce electricity.

  • Reduce water consumption: by taking shorter showers, not letting water run unnecessarily, using stopcocks, installing dual-flush toilets, using rainwater harvesters to water the garden.

  • Reduce plastic consumption: by using reusable shopping bags, buying products in bulk to avoid unnecessary packaging, using reusable water bottles to carry water or drinks, using environmentally friendly cleaning products.

  • Favour local and seasonal products: by buying seasonal fruit and vegetables, by favouring local products to reduce the carbon impact of transport, by cooking recipes based on fresh and seasonal products.

  • Favour eco-responsible products: by buying products made from ecological and eco-compatible materials, by avoiding products containing chemicals that are harmful to the environment, by favouring sustainable products to reduce waste.

  • Reduce your consumption of animal products: by eating less meat and dairy products, by favouring organic products to reduce pesticides and chemicals in food.

Ecological gestures in the office

At Naéco, our hostels have the Green Key label and we do our best to limit our environmental impact with an important CSR approach and an environmental charter. It is possible to adopt many eco-actions at the office to reduce our environmental impact.

Some gestures are the same as at home: saving water and energy (turning off water so that it does not run unnecessarily, turning off computers and electronic equipment when not in use, scanning instead of printing, etc.), using eco-responsible products (household products, etc.). But there are others...

Going further in your eco-responsible approach

  • Reduce paper consumption: by printing only when necessary, by using reusable notebooks and pens, by using electronic signatures for documents, by favouring electronic communications to reduce travel

  • Encouraging green travel: using public transport, using bicycles or electric scooters for business trips, organising online meetings to avoid unnecessary travel.

  • Raising awareness among colleagues and employers: sharing information about the environmental benefits of green actions, providing ideas for improving green practices within the company, encouraging others to adopt green actions.

By adopting these green actions on a daily basis, we can help preserve our environment while improving our quality of life and contributing to a more responsible and sustainable business.

These changes can become habits and a sustainable way of life for us and for future generations!

As you can see, there are many small and simple ways to help the planet that we can incorporate into our daily lives. We just need to be aware of it and be willing to change our habits towards more ecological choices. :)
