At Naéco Hostels, Our heart beats to the rhythm of Brittany, between the Atlantic Ocean and our beautiful pine forests. Our philosophy? Sleep, relax, share. But always with respect for the generous nature that surrounds us.
When you stay with us, you're already choosing a more conscious form of tourism. We take action on a daily basis through eco-responsible management, short-distance purchasing and constant awareness-raising. In fact, if you'd like to find out more about what goes on behind the scenes, take a look at the following details our commitments and our Naéco#Responsables charter.
However, the ecological transition does not stop at the gates of our establishments. Whether you put down your suitcases in one of our nature spots to discover the Bay of Audierne, to survey the hiking trails in Erdeven or to surf the magnificent Le Pouldu beaches, every little bit counts.
Here's our practical guide to adopting the right reflexes, both at the hotel and on a day-to-day basis.
At the hotel: Becoming an eco-responsible traveler
From eco-responsible vacations doesn't mean giving up on comfort - quite the contrary! It simply means paying attention to details that are good for the planet.
Managing water and energy on vacation
In our establishments, we do our utmost to limit our footprint (low-energy light bulbs, water flow regulators), and you are our best ally in your room:
- The towel ritual: A hanging towel means «I'm reusing it», a towel on the floor means «thank you for washing it». At Naéco, you also have to let us know, thanks to the door hanger. By keeping your towels throughout your short stay, you save precious liters of water and detergent.
- Chrono« showers: After a good session on the slopes or a long hike on the GR34 customs trail, the shower is sacred. But there's no need to spend hours in the shower: 4 or 5 minutes is more than enough to relax and rinse off.
- Heating and electricity : When you leave your cocoon for the day, remember to turn off the lights, unplug your chargers and turn off the heating if you air the room. The birds in the forest will thank you!
Reducing and sorting waste when traveling
Single-use plastic has no place in your luggage when you travel explore Southern Brittany.
- Adopt the gourd: Our common areas are equipped with water points to refill your container before setting off on your exploration. Reusable water bottles are also available in our stores.
- Sorting in Naéco mode: Recycling and composting bins are available in our hostels. Take a second to separate your packaging and recycle your bio-waste.
The little Naéco plus : For picnics on the fine sand, opt for reusable containers or beeswax packaging (bee wraps made with local wax) rather than disposable stretch film.
Everyday: Bringing the Naéco spirit home
The trip's over, but the state of mind remains. Bring a bit of our Breton philosophy back into your daily routine with these simple ecogestures.
Focus on cooking: Local and seasonal produce
In our shared spaces, We'd love to see you sharing your culinary delights. Apply the same rule of terroir at home:
- Take a tour of local markets to support the circular economy.
- Meet with local producers to avoid the middleman.
- Cook vegetables in season. Less transport means a drastic reduction in CO2 emissions and much more taste on your plate!
Towards a zero-waste bathroom
It's the easiest place to start an ecological transition at home. Today's solid alternatives (shampoo, shower gel) are ultra-efficient, generate no plastic waste, take up less space in the cupboard and last twice as long. A real gesture for the planet... and for your wallet.
Towards a more responsible future
Changing habits takes a little time, but every step forward is a collective victory. By applying these simple ecogestures, you're making a direct contribution to preserving our wild coastlines, our forests and our rich biodiversity.
