A veritable little paradise, Brittany has nothing to envy the other regions of France. With its beaches, islands, forests and... cuisine, everyone dreams of one day setting foot in this magical region! Here's a taste of the specialities not to be missed during your stay in South Brittany in Finistère or Morbihan.

Kouign-Amann

Originating in Douarnenez in Finistère and emblematic of Brittany, Kouign-Amann is made from bread dough covered in butter and sugar then folded over several times. In 2018, it was included in 40 best recipes of all time in the American magazine "Food & Wine"!

Near Naéco Erdeven, come and discover the Kouign-Amann from the Boulangerie-Pâtisserie Robic in the heart of Erdeven.

Galettes and crêpes

A classic of the Breton gastronomythe galette (or crêpe) is made from buckwheat flour or wheat. Here, it is cooked on a billig, the traditional Breton crepe maker. Available in sweet or savoury versions, the possibilities are endless!

Discover the Le Pied à Terre" creperie in Clohars-Carnoët near our establishment in Le Pouldu and the crêperie Aux Crêpes d'Or just a few steps from our hostel in Audierne.

At Les Ganivelles in Morbihan: enjoy traditional galettes and sweet crêpes in a warm atmosphere, just a few minutes' walk from Naéco Erdeven.

Breton cake

Simply composed of semi-salted buttersugar, flour and egg yolk. Breton cake is a shortbread-textured cake reminiscent of the Breton palet. Most often plain, it can also be filled with prune cream or with salted butter caramel. Unique, this delicious cake has everyone in agreement!

It seems that those of the bakery Breads and fantasies in Clohars-Carnoët are delicious. Discover them during your stay in our hostel in Le Pouldu. Discover those of the crêperie pâtisserie Avel-Mor when you visit Audierne, or Kerjeanne - Atelier de Pâtisserie Bretonne in Belz, Morbihan, when you visit Naéco Erdeven.

Far Breton

According toorigin of far breton dates back to the 18th century. Initially, it was a porridge cooked in a sack and served salted as an accompaniment to meat. The recipe then evolved to become the essential far breton of today.

Taste the coffee ones Le Ster Laïta in Clohars-Carnoët near Le Pouldu, apparently it's a delight!

Near Erdeven, try the one from la Galettièrea delight...

Kig-ha-farz

Previously considered a "poor man's recipe", the kig ha farz is a typical recipe often called le pot au feu breton ". Its speciality comes from the farz, a kind of filling made from wheat flour or buckwheat cooked in broth. This typical dish is ideal for convivial occasions!

During your stay in Le Pouldu, taste the one from the crêperie La Charrette in Saint-Evarzec (about 45min drive). As well as being very good, you'll appreciate the restaurant's original, authentic decor.

In Morbihan, head for Lorient, a 30-minute drive from Erdeven, to enjoy a good Kig Ha Farz in a special atmosphere at Tavarn Ar Roue Morvan. This dish is only available one day of the week - just ask at the restaurant! 

Salted butter caramel

A confection made with caramelized sugar, salted butter and fresh cream, the salted butter caramel is no longer in need of introduction! Enjoy it as a small sweet, a lollipop (why not a Niniche?), on delicious crêpes or in a kouign-amann, it's sure to tantalize your taste buds.

You'll find them all over Brittany! Whether in a crêperie or at a Maison Biscuits Caramels in Plouhinec, close to our premises in Audierne. You can also find them in bakeries and pastry shops, as well as in every Breton product stores.

Near Naéco Erdeven, stock up at La Trinitaine in the village.

The chouchen

Finally, to accompany all these Breton disheswhat could be better than a local drink? chouchen ! Made by fermenting a mixture of water and honey, chouchen is an alcoholic beverage ranging from 12% to 15%. It's the perfect accompaniment to desserts.

You can find them in cider or delicatessen stores in the vicinity of our establishments. For example, in Locoal-Mendon at the Cidrerie du Pays d'Auray, just a few minutes' drive from Naéco Erdeven.
