What is the Clef Verte ecolabel?
The Clef Verte label was introduced in France in 1998. France is the second country in the world to have developed the label. Green Keywith its long history and number of approved establishments, is the leading eco-label for tourist establishments.
Hotels, youth hostels, furnished accommodation, campsites, bed and breakfasts, tourist residences and restaurants that have earned the Clef Verte label are committed to a daily commitment to sustainable development. CSR approach and are moving towards the eco-responsible practices recommended by Clef Verte.
Clef verte, a label from the Teragir association
Teragir is a non-profit organization founded in 1983 and present in 77 countries. It oversees 5 sustainable action programs, including Clef Verte.
Every day, the association demonstrates the importance of preserving the environment through its various programs and labels: Pavillon Bleu, Eco-Ecole, Clef Verte, International Forest Day and Jeunes Reporters pour l'Environnement.

Green Key criteria
The criteria for the Clef Verte label are established internationally by the Foundation for Environmental Education. These criteria are reviewed every 4 years in line with environmental issues and technological advances. However, each country has its own set of criteria, which may not be less demanding than the international standard, and each modification must be approved by the international management.
Obtaining the Clef Verte label is a guarantee of seriousness, testifying to an environmental approach that meets over a hundred sustainable tourism management criteria for tourist accommodation and restaurants.
An international label
Better known as "Green Key International" or "Green Key Global", the Green Key label is present worldwide: in 66 countries and on over 3,200 sites. It is essential for the Green Key label to maintain the same graphic consistency worldwide, so that travelers from different countries can use the logo to recognize tourist establishments committed to a sustainable approach.
The Clef Verte France team strives not to change more than 20% of the international criteria, and adaptations are merely a reinforcement of the basic criteria. In addition, the international team regularly checks the structures of other countries to ensure that commitments are respected.
