Na\u00e9co is committed to responsible practices on a daily basis, and we explain how.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Corporate social responsibility, also known as Corporate Social Responsibility<\/strong> (CSR) is the contribution made by companies in 3 specific areas: sustainable development, social responsibility and the economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Na\u00e9co Hostels, we have put in place a number of \u201cbest practices\u201d to contribute to this movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CSR at Na\u00e9co Hostels<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To contribute to sustainable development objectives, it is no longer a question of reducing our negative impact on the environment, as is still the case in a corporate social responsibility approach, but of seeing how our activity can make a positive contribution to the sustainability of our planet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a CSR approach, we seek to have a positive impact on society, to respect the environment, while at the same time being economically viable! It's a balance we're building internally with our teams, but also with our various partners and local players.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Na\u00e9co Hostels, we have made a commitment, through our association Na\u00e9co#Responsables and by creating our own eco-socio-responsible charter<\/a> which aims to promote sustainable tourism<\/strong>, Our aim is to help you reduce the ecological footprint of your stay and take concrete action to preserve our beautiful Breton territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From a societal point of view, Na\u00e9co is continually improving, with a number of offers such as a special fare for travelers who walk or cycle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A green holiday in Southern Brittany<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Na\u00e9co is an anagram of\u2019ocean<\/strong>\u00bbbut also the contraction of\u00abnature<\/strong>\u00bband \u00abeco-friendly<\/strong>\u00bba strong value in the\u2019Brand DNA<\/strong>. It is in this responsible approach<\/strong> that we want to control our environmental, social and economic impact on a daily basis. We invite you to discover some of the actions that are particularly close to our hearts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reducing our carbon footprint<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

At Na\u00e9co Hostels, we have focused our actions on three main areas: water, energy and waste.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every week, we measure our water and electricity consumption and present it to you in the reception area of our establishments, in order to be as transparent as possible with you. We do not wash bath sheets on a daily basis, but only at your request. And we have installed a rainwater recovery system for rational watering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of a\u2019circular economy<\/strong><\/a>, we use as much as possible materials from second hand<\/strong>. Our wooden trays, to be found on our eshop, are made from wood scraps from dormitories. We use reconditioned computer equipment<\/strong>. Much of our furniture is second-hand (tables, chairs, etc.). Our terrace\/yoga area in Audierne is made from the wood of old mobile home decks, and we have many other examples!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In order to reducing our waste<\/strong>, For example, we've done away with pre-packaged individual portions at breakfast, and we do the same with our soap, which we cut up ourselves, to provide you with a piece that doesn't come in any extra packaging. And of course, all waste is sorted and composted, and we recover hazardous waste (batteries, light bulbs) and recycle it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For save energy<\/strong>, we only use light bulbs low consumption<\/strong>, A or B appliances, as well as motion detectors in common areas, so you can use light only when you need it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our actions and yours<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Our teams do their best to promote the sustainable tourism<\/strong> and for limit ecological impact<\/strong> of your stay, we invite you to play a full part in our environmental protection<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And so, in December 2020, our first Ethical Advent Calendar<\/a> in which we share our tips and advice with you. eco-responsible actions<\/strong> to apply and adopt during your stay and in your daily life. We also make a point of sharing our ecological awareness with you through our various blog posts<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also regularly organize and participate in\u00a0beach clean-ups<\/strong>\u00a0around our facilities in Southern Brittany. In addition, we prioritize ways to\u00a0soft transport<\/strong>, that's why we're proposing a\u00a0special offer for walkers and cyclists<\/a>\u00a0who visit our locations in Brittany throughout the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Promoting local craftsmen and producers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In partnership with producers and\u00a0local artisans<\/strong>, we want to highlight Breton craftsmanship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For breakfast, and also for purchase, we offer Na\u00e9co honey<\/strong> Produced by a small local beekeeper. His hives are set up in Na\u00e9co Erdeven's garden, and the honey is harvested twice a year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When we sell this honey, 100% of the profits from the sale of our products are donated to the\u2019association Na\u00e9co1TP5Responsables<\/strong>\u00a0and thus help us plan our future conservation efforts for ecology and the environment. Just like sales of Na\u00e9co merchandise: beach\/pocket ashtrays, eco-cups, and bamboo water bottles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Within our facilities, we also work with\u00a0local producers<\/strong>\u00a0for our light meal menu and our bar. You can find a selection of local products available year-round, all made just a stone's throw from your accommodations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Supporting the local economy<\/strong>\u00a0is one of Na\u00e9co Hostels\u2019 commitments. During your stay, please feel free to talk to us\u2014we\u2019d be delighted to recommend various dining options or cultural activities unique to Southern Finist\u00e8re or Morbihan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During your stay, we are attentive and open to dialogue concerning our\u00a0CSR approach<\/strong>\u00a0And we\u2019re listening to your feedback and ideas! As the saying goes, \u201cAlone we go faster, together we go further\u201d\u2014that\u2019s why we\u2019re offering useful and eco-friendly Na\u00e9co merchandise (beach ashtrays, eco-cups, bamboo water bottles) for sale. All proceeds are donated to the Na\u00e9co#Responsables association and are used to organize initiatives such as beach cleanups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
